Sarah C. Elliott, enjoyed life on the farm

Sarah C. Elliott, 97, of Bridgeville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Country Rest Home. She was born in Camden, N.J., Saturday, Dec. 27, 1919, daughter of the late William and Phoebe (Taylor) Conaway.

Mrs. Elliott lived most of her life in the Bridgeville area. She spent her life on the farm, and very much enjoyed being a farmer's wife. She was a member of the homemakers club and the CHEER Center. In her spare time she enjoyed reading. She was known to be an excellent cook, and she won many awards at the state fair for her crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John T. Elliott Sr.; her brothers, William C. Conaway and Warren Emerson Conaway; and her sister, Hannah Bradley. She is survived by her sons, John Elliott Jr. and his wife Maria of Bridgeville, and David Elliott of Magnolia; her daughters, Barbara Truitt of Georgetown and Janet Scarborough and her husband Lewis, of Georgetown; her eight grandchildren; right great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m., at Seaford Church of God of Prophecy, Seaford.
