Schlosser clearly the best Rehoboth candidate

July 21, 2017

I strongly endorse Lisa Schlosser for commissioner. As a long-term resident and medical practitioner in Washington, D.C., I understand what it takes to succeed and thrive in Washington, D.C., and Lisa did succeed in her 30 years in the military, public sector and in the private sector. While serving our country, she also became an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, one of the top colleges in the nation.

As Lisa's Rehoboth Beach neighbor, I have been impressed with her passion for our city. When our community was outraged with the issues around the City Hall, Lisa didn't just start a committee or attend meetings - she took action. She listened to the voices of her community, and decided to run for commissioner, so she could help to fix our city's broken processes. Lisa is not a recent addition to the Rehoboth Beach community - she has been a homeowner in Rehoboth Beach for over 15 years, and clearly understands what needs to be done.

I want to underscore exactly how hardworking and dedicated Lisa is. Although she retired in November, she continues to teach at Georgetown, serves on a corporate and nonprofit board, and volunteers at the Brandywine SPCA. At the same time, she is already taking local action, and is participating in a grassroots communication channel among our Rehoboth Beach neighbors that is sharing information and ideas on issues like traffic and safety that will be proposed to our commissioners.

Rehoboth is in a state of crisis. We are now several million dollars over the anticipated budget for the City Hall building. A bigger item on the agenda is the ocean outfall project. We really need an individual with budget and business experience to administer this project. The current Mayor Mr. Cooper does not give me confidence that he can sufficiently manage this project, based upon his previous performance with the City Hall project. Lisa is an experienced budget analysis person who has administered billion-dollar federal programs. I want her on the team.

Please ask yourself the following question: Do you want the same administrators on our Rehoboth Beach Commission, those who simply attend meetings and don't have the experience and energy to manage complex budgets and plans? If you want a longtime Rehoboth Beach homeowner, experienced leader, and tireless advocate for citizen-based action - vote for Lisa Schlosser.
