Sharon Leigh McDonald-Raye, loved going to the beach

Sharon Leigh McDonald-Raye, 67, of Seaford, passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Sharon was born in Milford and raised in Georgetown. During her lifetime she also lived in Dover, Fenwick Island, Ocean Pines, Md., and most recently Seaford.

She loved going to the beach and being near the water. Sharon was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed all sports, especially NASCAR, horses and horse racing. She loved to ride the trike motorcycle with Joe, and always had a calming presence, always having you keep in mind "it'll be fine."

She was preceded in death by her father, Allan Miller McDonald; a sister, Patricia Harper; and a brother, John McDonald.

Sharon is survived by her companion of 25 years, Joe Kauffman; her mother, Jacqueline Koshel of Dover; two children, Jacqueline Wilson and husband James of Brunswick, Ga., and Tony Ledbetter of Dover; three grandchildren, India Simmons and husband Tristan of Missouri and Anthony Elliott and Jimmy Jack Wilson, both of Texas; a great-grandson, Kamden Simmons; and a sister, Terri Wagner and husband Donald of Milford.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 26, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, with visitation after 10 a.m.
