Sharon Sue Wineberg, retired English teacher

Sharon Sue (Compton) Wineberg, 75, of Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. Born Oct. 21, 1942, in Canton, Ohio to Lewis and Caroline Compton, Sharon grew up in Punxsutawney, Pa., and was a 1960 graduate of Punxsutawney High School, and a 1966 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
A resident of Newark since 1967, Sharon taught English in the Colonial School District for over 25 years. Well-loved and respected by her colleagues, she chaired the English Department at Gunning Bedford Middle School for many years. She also taught English at James H. Groves Adult High School in Newark, from which she derived much satisfaction. An avid reader, she was smart, sensitive, caring and fun to be with. She will be missed.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew and John, and his wife, Alexa; daughter Susan and her husband Shane; and one grandson.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
