Shields Elementary students to perform ‘Madagascar’ musical at Cape High March 23-24

A lively cast and crew of third-, fourth- and fifth-graders from Richard A. Shields Elementary School will perform “Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr.,” with shows at 7 p.m., Friday, March 23, and 6 p.m., Saturday, March 24, on the big stage at the Cape Henlopen High School auditorium.

The musical brings to life the story of escaped Central Park Zoo animals Marty the Zebra, Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, Melman the Giraffe and a sneaky group of penguins. An odyssey takes the animals to Madagascar where they meet a silly group of lemurs and ferocious Foosa. The captivating story and music will have everyone singing along.

Tickets are $10 and available at the Shields office until Wednesday, March 21. Tickets also may be purchased at the door.

“This talented group of kids is going to wow the audience with the humor and lovable storyline of this great show,” said Director Stephanie Whitcomb. “We can’t wait for Shields families, staff, and the entire community to join us on this adventure.”
