Shred for Threads sale set at Merchants Attic Feb. 19

February 16, 2017

Local skateboarder and Sussex Tech High School senior Sam Ratner will hold a Shred for Threads sale from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19 at The Merchants’ Attic at Cape Henlopen High School, 1250 Kings Highway, Lewes. Ratner collects gently used skate, surf, skim and snowboarding clothing, shoes, gear and equipment which he resells to benefit the Epworth Skate Park in Rehoboth. He also collects new items generously donated by local shops like Liquid Board Shop, Quiet Storm and The Edge.

All proceeds from the sales go directly to the park. Ratner says there is a dual benefit to the resort skate/board sports community. “The items are sold inexpensively to kids who might not be able to afford to buy brand new, and the park always needs funds to cover upkeep and repairs,"  he says. "Currently, Shred for Threads donations will help to fund concrete repairs and concrete resealing, which is necessary for the enjoyment and safety of riders."

The skate park is free and open to the public. The park was built by a grassroots organization, the Epworth Skate Project, on land donated by Epworth United Methodist Church. The church and skate park are at 19285 Holland Glade Road, just north of Rehoboth Beach. To donate gently used items, contact Ratner on Instagram @samratgnar or email samuel@gotogallo.com.

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce produces the Merchants' Attic sale, and approximately 90 vendors will be selling their wares including excess business inventory, antiques, collectibles and secondhand household items. For more information on the sale, visit www.beach-fun.com.
