Sign of hatred in Long Neck exposed

December 8, 2017

I saw a car in the parking lot of a Long Neck shopping center the other day. Its owner had applied a professionally made magnetic sign that read: "Everything I ever needed to know about Islam I learned on 9/11." I am still upset about the fact that the car's owner feels it's perfectly OK to display such a hateful message.

I would say he knows absolutely nothing about Islam. I imagine he feels pretty cool, and laughs a lot about it with his friends.
When it comes to tolerance and respect for diversity in the U.S., we are moving backward at an alarming and increasing pace. Free speech? Sure, everyone has a right to display hate messages on their cars, but is it right?

How about an equally absurd and hateful bumper sticker that says "Everything I needed to know about Christianity I learned from the Spanish Inquisition"?

I wonder how that message would fly in Long Neck?
