Silent auction fundraiser to benefit Milton Garden Club April 22

April 18, 2018

The Milton Garden Club will hold a silent auction from 12 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 22 at Irish Eyes in Milton. Proceeds will help finance the club’s sculpture gift to the town of Milton and its citizens.

To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the Milton Garden Club has commissioned an artist/sculptor/blacksmith to design and create two stationary garden gates that the club is happy to share with Milton. The silent auction fundraiser will feature almost 60 items donated by local businesses and residents including retail and restaurant gift cards, art, a dinner for six, pie a month, a soup tasting for eight, gift baskets, an assortment of Longaberger baskets, plants and garden accessories including a red wagon filled with plants, and much more.

Bidding will end at 4 p.m. for items 1-26 while bidding will continue until 5 p.m. for the remaining items.

"We are quite excited about this project," said 20th anniversary Co-chair Kathryn Greig. "We had hoped to have 35 to 40 items for this auction, but once again the wonderful community spirit of everyone associated with Milton came through and we have almost 60 items. Please come out and bid as we have something for everyone."

Organized by Jane Clark, the first club meeting was held Oct. 8, 1998, and 11 members were present. Another nine joined at the following meeting, and these 20 members immediately started working on their goal of making Milton beautiful with flowers. This tradition continues 20 years later.
