Skim a Thon for Childhood Cancer to be June 17

May 28, 2017

The Get Well Gabby Foundation has teamed up with RELYance Skim Camp again to bring the Third Annual Skim a Thon for Childhood Cancer to the Delaware beaches. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at Delaware Seashore State Park, Tower Road Beach, south of Rehoboth Beach. Participants can have fun while raising funds for childhood cancer research. Over the past two years, the event has raised nearly $10,000 to help children who are battling cancer to get well. This is a chance to learn a new sport or show off experienced skimboarding talent.

Participants who would like to learn how to skim will receive two hours of instruction and the use of boards from Tom and Dave Bracht and the RELYance Skim Camp team. Experienced skimboarders can come out and shred some waves to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. Prizes for the participants who raise the most money include a new Exile skimboard, items donated by Atlantic Shoals Surf Shop, a Spike Ball game, a gift basket from Comics and Gaming in Bethany, and much more. Bethany Blues and Pepsi will provide lunch, and games will take place between the two instruction sessions. The price to register is $25 for an instruction session; experienced skimboarders make a donation to attend. Proceeds will go to The Get Well Gabby Foundation.

RELYance Skim Camp, State Farm Agent Jeanine O'Donnell, Coastal Kids Pediatric Dentistry, Courtney Veirs Realtor, Exile Skim Boards, Atlantic Shoals Surf Shop, Bethany Blues and Pepsi make this event possible.
