Small business workshop for entrepreneurs set March 16

March 4, 2017

In the first two sessions of 2017, more than 20 entrepreneurs have been assisted as a result of the free Sussex County is Open for Business workshops held the third Thursday of every month except December. The Sussex Economic Development Action Committee will offer the next free Open for Business workshop from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 16, at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center at Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown. Those wishing to start, purchase or expand a business may have the opportunity to meet a variety of resource partners to discuss business plan writing, sources of financing, marketing, tourism in Sussex County and business formation, among other topics.

More than 15 professionals from county and state agencies, colleges, and business advocacy and resource organizations attend each workshop to provide free business development consultations, information on state and county licensing and permitting, financial resources and business coaching, networking with other business start-ups, and brainstorming with experts.

Agencies and organizations that typically have representatives attend each month include: The Center for Enterprise Development; Delaware State University; Delaware Economic Development Office; Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership; University of Delaware Small Business Development Center; Delaware Procurement Technical Assistance Center; Delaware Technical Community College Entrepreneur Center; SCORE Delaware; Southern Delaware Tourism; Sussex County Economic Development Office; U.S. Small Business Administration; Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity; Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; Delaware Department of Transportation; U.S. Department of Agriculture; and Delaware State Housing Authority.
