SoDel Cares donates $1,000 to Children and Families First

June 5, 2016

SoDel Cares, the philanthropic arm of SoDel Concepts, recently donated $1,000 to Children and Families First Delaware, which serves thousands of children and families in Delaware by helping children facing adversity on their journey into adulthood.

The charity held a guest bartender night March 10 at Fish On in Lewes, one of SoDel Concepts' nine coastal restaurants. The event raised $12,000 in tips for the charity. As the host of the guest bartending night, SoDel Concepts agreed to donate a percentage from that evening’s sales to the charity.

Although it was a weekday night in the off-season, the restaurant’s bar was packed with the guest bartenders’ friends and family. “The evening turned out to be a much bigger event than anyone expected,” said Matt Patton, director of operations for SoDel Concepts. “It was a great party, and the guest bartenders brought in so many people from the community.”

It was such a success that the organizers are planning next year’s event. “Now that we know what to expect, we will make the event even better next year so that Children and Families First can benefit from even more funds,” Patton said.
