Spring plant sale set in Lewes May 7

May 2, 2017

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes will hold its annual spring plant sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, May 7. This event is open to the public. Back by popular demand will be the garden boutique for non-plant items that gardeners love so dearly. Shoppers can expect to find books, garden ornaments, decorative pots, handmade birdhouses, garden tools and other garden-themed materials.

Proceeds will fund new projects and enhance existing displays during the year. Past sales have funded the meditation garden, shade garden and spring bulb display. The church depends on donations from the many talented gardeners in the congregation to provide the vast variety of plants for sale. In the past, there have been annuals, vegetables, fruits, herbs, perennials, shrubs, ornamentals and bulbs among the many donations.

St. Peter's is one of the oldest churches in America. It is at the corner of Second and Market streets in downtown historic Lewes. The churchyard fills an entire city block and includes a meditation garden, a shady resting garden, a prayerful labyrinth, and a host of flowering plants and trees scattered within an historic cemetery. All of this provides a beautiful, welcoming, year-round resting spot for visitors and members of the congregation.
