St. Peter's offers special music events Nov. 4 and 12

November 2, 2016

The St. Cecilia Guild of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Second and Market streets, Lewes, offers two special programs of music in November.

On Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. the guild presents the Lewes Chamber Players performing "American Scenes," with music from Shaker tunes to spirituals and tangos in which the American musical landscape brings forth spirituality and cultural freshness. Audience members will hear delightful miniatures performed skillfully by LCP's resident musicians, violinist Sylvia Ahramjian, cellist Ovidiu Marinescu and organist T.J. Thomas.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m., the guild will host the Eric Mintel Quartet Jazz Concert in a "Tribute to Dave Brubeck." Mintel's performing credits include the White House, the Kennedy Center and Marian McPartland's "Piano Jazz" on National Public Radio. The composer, bandleader and pianist will be joined by Nelson Hill on sax and flute, Jack Hegyi on electric bass and Dave Mohn on drums.

There is no charge for either event, but a free-will offering will be received at the door. The guild was established at St. Peter's this fall to support and enhance the church's music program by offering additional presentations and concerts, and introducing professional musicians to Southern Delaware.
