Summer programs at Holts Landing to begin with concerts June 13

Staff is gearing up for another fun-filled summer at Holts Landing State Park. The newest addition to park events will be the Summer Concert Series, which will take place at 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, June 13 to Aug. 15. These concerts are free with paid park entry, and suitable for the whole family. Park visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner.

The Friends of Holts Landing State Park will host a series of three Family Fun Nights at 6 p.m., Tuesdays, June 27, July 18 and Aug. 8. There will be yard games, activities for children, and live music.

Park naturalists will be hosting weekly seining programs and outdoor art programs. At 2 p.m. every Tuesday, beginning June 20, park naturalists will lead a hands-on Seining the Bay program where participants can drag a long seine net through the water and collect all kinds of marine life for observation. The fee for this program is $5 per person. Preregistration is required. To register, call 302-227-6991.

At 10 a.m. every Friday, beginning June 23, park naturalists will host a new program called Eco-Art: Tools of Nature. This program will introduce park visitors to new ways of using natural materials to create their own works of art. The Eco-Art program is $10 per person and is suitable for ages 10 and up. Preregistration is required.
