Summer Vibes Fest fills the weekend with fun

Skateboard, SUP race and skim showcases board talent

The third annual Summer Vibes Fest heated up the weekend with the Rehoboth Amateur Skateboarding Competition, the East of Maui SUP Sprint Challenge and the Zap Amateur World Championships of Skimboarding.

The amateur skateboarding competition was held at the Epworth Skate Park with street and bowl competitions in beginner, intermediate, advanced and sponsored events.

The beginner street competition was won by Elliot Rhodes with Keegon Mitchell in second, Grady Hazel in third and Owen Brooks in fourth. The beginner bowl competition was taken by Grady Hazel in first and Chris DiEmidio in second.

The intermediate street was won by Kyron Reynolds with Zach Moore in second, Hayden Holsinger in third and Gabe Casapulla in fourth. Taking top honors in the intermediate bowl was Logan Kirshak with Ian Whitehead in second.

The advanced street competition was won by Sam Ratner with Casey Ritzer taking second, Michael Hight in third and Lon Pascal in fourth. The advanced bowl competition was won by Elliot Rhodes with Sam McCoy in second.

The sponsored street event was won by Matt McCaaley; Josh Emm placed second, Mike Rowe third and Joe Wright finished in fourth. The sponsored bowl event was won by Josh Emm with Elliot Rhodes in second, Devin Flynn in third, Mike Littlejohn in fourth and Keegan Mitchell fifth.

The East of Maui Stand Up Paddleboard Sprint Challenge was held Friday, Aug. 8, at Northbeach, where Wayne Best took top honors on the two-mile course and Beryl Besseau won the one-mile sprint.
