Sundance Rainbow XXX: Solar NRG set Sept. 2-3

August 9, 2017

Sundance 2017 - Rainbow XXX: Solar NRG - will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2 and 3. Thanks to Sundance sponsor The Cordish Companies, the two-night event is returning to the Rehoboth Mall atrium and interior, a venue that provided abundant free parking and ample party space, creative design options and a dynamic backdrop for the festivities. Organizers will again transform the mall space to create a spectacular setting for the popular auction and dance events.

When the first Sundance was held, it was a modest event, born out of a great need to do something in response to the terrible devastation the AIDS epidemic was causing in the gay community. The dance brought the community together in a positive way and raised money for the cause. Now, 30 years later, Sundance is a spectacular celebration including an auction and dance, and it draws nearly 1,000 participants. Funds raised benefit  CAMP Rehoboth, an LGBT community organization that provides a wide range of community services, including AIDS education, testing and outreach.

The silent and live auctions are from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2. Hundreds of items will be available for bidding across a wide spectrum of price points. They include vacation packages, dining opportunities, fine art, gift items, one-of-a-kind experiences, cruises from Olivia Travel and Accent on Travel, and more. Popular auctioneer Lorne Crawford will lead the live auction. There will be a cocktail buffet and an open bar all night.

The dance party starts at 8 p.m., Sunday, and goes to 2 a.m. Music will be by sought-after DJ and producer Joe Gauthreaux. He has a resume full of club appearances and main events that spans the last 15 years. He has played major circuits worldwide, including Winter Party Festival, Black Party, White Party Miami, Song Kran Bangkok, New Year’s Rio at The Week and Atlantis Cruises. A staple at major clubs across North America, Brazil and Asia, his name is synonymous with having an amazing and unique musical experience.

The cocktail buffet and bar will be open all night. A free shuttle service will be provided from downtown Rehoboth Beach during the night of the dance.

Sundance participants can attend either or both nights. Tickets are $45 for one night, $80 for both.
