Sussex Central students to perform ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ March 2-3

February 20, 2018

The Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will present "The Little Shop of Horrors," a classic horror-musical by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, with special permission by Music Theatre International. The story of Seymour, a lonely clerk in a florist shop, and his love for Audrey, a troubled floozy, and Audrey Two, a man-eating alien plant, has delighted audiences for decades on stage and in film.

The Sussex Central production will take place at 7 p.m., Friday, March 2, and 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Centre for Visual and Performing Arts at Sussex Central High School, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.

Ticket prices are $10 for general admission; $7 for seniors, students and military; and $7 at a special two-for-one rate for middle school students. No one will be turned away for inability to pay, but all donations and proceeds support future Take Two/SCHS drama productions. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 5:30 p.m. (12:30 p.m. for Saturday matinee). Concessions and drinks will be available at separate cost.

SCHS student performers for "The Little Shop of Horrors" include Abbey Ruark, Sam McCloskey, D.J. Sturgis, Patricia Diaz, Jake Ward, Blair Williams, Rowan Reusing and Kaitlyn Nusz. The production will be completely student directed by junior Elizabeth Holz – a first for a school musical at Sussex Central.

"These are some of the most musically and dramatically talented students we have in the district. And under the guidance of their incredibly capable student director, they have created a classic night of musical theater everyone should see," said David Warick, Take Two Drama Club advisor and teacher.

The Take Two Drama Club is an independent, nonprofit club and drama boosters organization that supports the production of plays and musicals for the students of Sussex Central High School and surrounding communities. All ticket proceeds go directly back into the production of future shows and to support the students of Sussex Central in studying and creating theater.
