Sussex County’s Open for Business set Sept. 21

Sussex County's Open for Business, a free business development session for startup and existing businesses, will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center, 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown at Delaware Coastal Airport.

Sponsored by the Sussex County Economic Development Action Committee Inc., Sussex County’s Open for Business is held the third Thursday of each month except December. It offers free, one-stop access to an array of organizations, agencies and resource partners that assist small businesses in funding, business consulting and training in Sussex County.

"Whether you're a startup or established business looking for assistance in writing a business plan, marketing, business continuity planning or working with financial institutions, you can find it at Sussex County’s Open for Business," said Scott Thomas, executive director of Southern Delaware Tourism, one of the Open for Business service providers.

Launched in 2010, Sussex County’s Open for Business has fostered support and growth for startups and well-established businesses representing a broad spectrum of sectors in the county including manufacturing, construction, retail, restaurants and services.

Hildegard Rieger with Relaxing Tours LLC is a past attendee of Sussex County's Open for Business and said, "As the owner of Relaxing Tours LLC, the service providers present at Open for Business, such as the Small Business Development Center, Southern Delaware Tourism and One Million Cups, have created an open forum with amazing people, insights and support into developing and growing my tour business. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for myself and my business."

Some of the organizations that will be on hand July 20 include the Delaware Small Business Development Center; Sussex County Economic Development Office; The Center for Enterprise Development; Delaware State University; Delaware Economic Development Office; Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership; Delaware Procurement Technical Assistance Center; Delaware Technical Community College Entrepreneur Center; SCORE Delaware; Southern Delaware Tourism; U.S. Small Business Administration; Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity; Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; Delaware Department of Transportation; U.S. Department of Agriculture; and Delaware State Housing Authority.
