Sussex County 4-H installs bluebird houses

The ten blue bird boxes are set up and ready to install.
After talking about safety, wood science instructor Clyde Mellin shows the 4-Hers some notes that the participants wrote to the birds.
Working together on the install are (l-r) Daniel Tull, Jackie Arpie, Declan West and Clyde Mellin.
After stuffing a layer of leaves into the box, to give the birds a base to live in, Rebecca Arpie seals up the box with help from Clyde Mellin.
The Bluebird House, with the 4-H logo burned into the box, waits for new residents.
The Sussex County 4-H partnered with the Nature Conservancy Feb. 25 to install 10 bluebird houses at the Nature Conservancy’s Edward H. McCabe Preserve near Milton. The project is part of a 4-H Community Service Project which teaches the group about wood science as they, together with wood science instructor Clyde Mellin, made the boxes. The boxes were all installed along the woodline to form a Bluebird Trail.
