Sussex County Genealogical Society elects new officers

May 23, 2017

The Sussex County Genealogical Society held an election of new officers at the May 20 meeting, electing Past President Nancy Purchase, Treasurer Alan Lowe, President Greer Maneval, Vice President Jeanne Rosser and Secretary Iris Fisher.

This organization's mission is to promote genealogy and educational work in a professional manner, encourage and instruct its members in genealogical research through careful documentation, and maintain quality genealogical standards.

Members always welcome visitors to their meetings which are held the third Saturday of the month, 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave. in Lewes. They also have workshops at different locations around the county which are also open to the public free of charge. For more information go to scgsdelaware.org.

The next meeting will be held Saturday, June 17. This meeting is called SCGS Members Show and Tell Roadshow. Members will show and tell what they have found during the past year about their ancestors or maybe show a treasured article, like a long-lost family Bible, which will be displayed for all to see. This meeting always gives the hope of finding more information about ancestors or items that defined the way ancestors lived, worked or died.
