Sussex Realtors attend national conference in Orlando

November 30, 2016

A leadership contingent from the Sussex County Association of Realtors attended the 2016 Realtors Conference and Expo organized by the National Association of Realtors in Orlando, Fla. Representing Delaware's southernmost county on the national stage were President Frank Serio, President-elect Brigit Taylor, Chief Executive Officer Merritt Burke and Delaware Association of Realtors President Bob McVey. They had intensive training and participated in programs for Realtors from throughout the country on a variety of topics, including technology, leadership, marketing and productivity.

The Sussex association has a presence at this national conference on a yearly basis. "As Realtors, it's always important for us to see what our brothers and sisters in other parts of the country are doing, as well as to learn what's working and what isn't working. And this yearly get-together is a great chance for us to do that," says Serio. "It's also essential that our association is represented on the national level, which is why we all felt it was important to be there."

Every fall, Realtors from across the United States and the world come together for the annual conference. The gathering includes more than 100 educational sessions featuring nationally recognized speakers, trainers and industry experts. There are also several hundred vendors presenting the latest innovative tools just for Realtors, as well as an unlimited amount of networking opportunities and special events. This year's theme was Global Reach, Local Focus, with thousands of guests from throughout the country attending the multiday event.

"As always, this was a very positive four days that celebrated the American dream in all its glory," says Serio. "This conference not only involves lots of classes and educational opportunities, but it also allows us to brainstorm with other Realtors from throughout North America. We all definitely need to work together if we're to keep the real estate industry moving forward into 2017 and beyond."
