Sussex Tech Adult Division announced a limited availability of funding for qualified adults interested in becoming certified nursing assistants. Sussex Technical School District’s Adult Division has recently been awarded a grant through the Delaware Workforce Investment Board which will provide tuition assistance for a limited number of students wishing to earn their Certified Nursing Assistant credentials.

Interested participants must meet certain eligibility requirements. Based upon approval, participants will be eligible to complete the requirements for certification in the State of Delaware as a Certified Nursing Assistant at no charge for the student.

CNAs provide direct healthcare and assistance to patients. Utilizing classroom, clinical and lab experiences, this course will teach the fundamentals of the nursing assistant career including vital signs, addressing clients’ physical needs, feeding, bathing, assistance with movement, safety and privacy. This course prepares the student to take the Delaware Certified Nursing Assistant Examination upon completion of the program. Students are prepared to work in the following areas: long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and home health agencies.

The next class will begin Friday, Oct. 14. Interested students are encouraged to contact the office immediately as seats will be very limited. For more information on eligibility and on how to enroll, call 302-853-1492 and ask for Joyce Kunde.
