Sussex Tech Marching Band to raffle off Toyota Camry
The Sussex Tech High School Marching Band’s raffle of a brand-new car this Christmas is shifting into overdrive with a special bonus offer, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Running through the drawing Wednesday, Dec. 21, raffle ticket buyers will receive a free homemade basket of assorted soaps, lotions, oils and sugar scrubs courtesy of Country Girl @ Heart valued at up to $50. It makes the perfect gift for that special someone, or even oneself.
Tickets are just $100 for a chance to win a 2017 Toyota Camry and support the band’s efforts to raise funds for its upcoming trip to New Orleans, where members will perform during the Allstate Sugar Bowl festivities on New Year’s weekend. The raffle is made possible with a generous donation by Hertrich Toyota of Milford.
Tickets can be purchased online or from any member of the band or band booster organization. Supplies are limited, as only 750 tickets will be sold for the raffle. Odds of winning are dependent on the total number of tickets sold.
The winning ticket will be drawn at approximately 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, following the Sussex Tech band’s winter concert at the CHEER Community Center, 20520 Sand Hill Road, Georgetown. The winner does not need to be present to win.
The raffle is the band program’s primary fundraiser event for 2016-17 school year, and it helps support the organization’s activities and performances on both the local and national stages. This school year, the Marching Raven Nation will high step it to New Orleans to represent Delaware during a halftime performance of high school bands at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. More than 100 members of the band will travel to the Crescent City for a weekend of performances in the birthplace of jazz, including the Sugar Bowl Battle of the Bands and the Sugar Bowl Parade, and culminating with the band’s halftime showcase before a national television audience at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in what is sure to be a high-spirited, musically rewarding experience.
