T. LaRue Webster, career woman

T. LaRue Webster, 95, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1921, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Elvin Otis VanTassell Sr. and Louise (Hitchins) VanTassell.

Mrs. Webster had worked as an executive secretary to regional vice president at Olin Mathison in Baltimore. She retired as a secretary to the vice president of Montgomery Ward in Maryland. She was a career woman for her entire adult life. Mrs. Webster was a very intelligent, loving lady.

Mrs. Webster was very active at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes where she was the head of Sodality. She also volunteered at Beebe Hospital for over 26 years. She loved the Baltimore Orioles and Colts. She loved to dance and ice skate in the public ponds in Maryland. Mrs. Webster was a loving and caring mother who taught her children to write and the ABCs.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Webster was preceded in death by her husband "Charlie" Dennis Webster. She is survived by her two sons, Dennis Van Webster (Jackie) of Granite, Md., and Darryl C. Webster of Canton, Md.; her daughter, Anastasia "Stacey" L. Webster of Rehoboth Beach; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Elvin Otis VanTassell Jr. (Marlyn); and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
