Teen job fair and workshop series start Feb. 21

The Lewes Public Library will host a series of workshops and a job fair for teens ages 14-17 to help them secure jobs for the summer season of 2017. The first workshop, Application Basics and Work Permits, will take place from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21. Application tips and tricks, and employer expectations will be discussed. Work permit applications and instructions will be available.

From 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, interviewing techniques will be discussed. The workshop will include common interview questions, commonly made mistakes, and easy tips that will ensure teens make a positive impact on employers.

The third workshop, on Money Management, is set 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23. Tina Thurman from Citizens Bank Lewes branch will cover the basic of money management, including checking and savings accounts, how to write a check and how to establish a credit score.

Registration for workshops is recommended but not required.

Workshops will culminate with a teen job fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25. Participating businesses include Dairy Queen in Lewes, Continental Pools, Thrasher’s French Fries, Grotto Pizza, Funland, Jungle Jim’s, Calvin Klein, Clear Blue Pools & Spas, Banana Republic, Candy Kitchen (multiple locations), Hopkins Creamery, Midway Speedway Park and Holly Lake Campground.
