Five years in the making, the unique furniture company Hunt & Lane opened its storefront for business in Rehoboth Beach on Memorial Day weekend. The island-inspired store offers a growing collection of handmade teak furniture, hand woven textiles and authentic island décor.

The company was founded by Taber Hunt Bartoshesky, who was inspired to create the business after taking his first trip to Indonesia and observing the country’s rich culture. Now he helps run the shop with his business partner and wife, Nadia, who is native to Indonesia.

Their stunning gallery consists of antiques and furniture made from repurposed and reclaimed materials found in Indonesia.  Bartoshesky and his wife spend a few months each year venturing into the jungles of Bali and Java in search of quality pieces.  The artistic furniture they create from salvaged relics reflects the different cultures they encounter along their journeys.

“It’s furniture that has a story,” says Bartoshesky. “It’s green and sustainable. And we’re not chopping down new trees for any of this stuff.”

Vibrant, inviting and tropical, the new store immerses customers into Indonesian culture through its impressive gallery of exotic artifacts, from a tiki bar created from old Javanese fishing boats to a table built from old railroad tracks.

Bartoshesky says he really enjoys Rehoboth Beach as a location for the new store. “It’s a very progressive community here,” he says. “People appreciate the arts and funky stuff.”

The store has flexible hours to work with the family’s easygoing lifestyle.  You can generally find the couple manning the store from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.  For more information, visit  www.huntandlane.com.
