A tribute to Delaware’s lifeguards

September 15, 2017

They scan the ocean, they crisscross in front of us during their rotation, they keep fit by exercising on sand and in the water, and they remind us over and over again not to block their view with our umbrella (will we ever learn?), yes!

But maybe we don't really realize on a usual day at the beach how dedicated this group of young 'gentle' men and ladies really are, unless ... you see them accompanying a lost child, helping a physically impaired person (pushing the special chair, carrying and planting their umbrella, even carrying them in and out of the water) and last but not least assisting an injured person.

I personally received that special care last month. I suffered a bout of vertigo that would not let me even stand up. They ran over, they gave me oxygen, they took my blood pressure and my heartbeat. They helped my husband and rolled me back to our car as I continued to be unable to stand.

Day in and day out, regardless of the weather, they are there to take care of us!

Thank you, you are the best!
