United Through Hockey 4 Change tournament raises funds

Rivals play for the sport they love
July 10, 2017

Dom Scott, a Cape grad and executive director of the nonprofit United Through Sport USA, and Delaware Shore Field Hockey Executive Director Mike Eisenhour smiled as 10 teams from the lower Delaware area had a fun-filled Friday evening July 7, playing a 7-on-7 at the United Through Hockey 4 Change field hockey tournament at Cape Henlopen’s Champions Stadium. Many of the players participating in the tournament were former Cape players and their former Henlopen Conference opponents. But the rivalries were thrown out the window, as they were playing for love of the sport while supporting the cause for both nonprofit organizations and making a social impact on the local Cape community.

The funds raised benefited sports scholarships through Delaware Shore Field Hockey and United Through Sport to help kids who are unable to afford expenses associated with youth sports in Sussex County.

United Through Sport is focused on working with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds using the power of sport to improve education, raise health awareness and build life skills.
