UUSD to celebrate Valentine's weekend with third annual sock hop Feb. 11

January 29, 2017

The third annual UUSD Sock Hop featuring local singer Cathy Gorman and songs from the '50s and '60s is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11. There will be refreshments, games and prizes for the best dancers and best costumes. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased in advance. Limited tickets will be available at the door.

Gorman is from Sussex County and has been singing for some 26 years. She captivates audiences everywhere she goes with her charm and her love of doing what she does best...singing. Her talents will take attendees back to the songs that created memories. She will get the crowd going with her big band and World War II renditions, and then everyone will be hopping and bopping to the '50s and '60s rock ‘n’ roll era.

For those whose favorites are country, she will sing a few Patsy Cline classics. Guests can get out those poodle skirts, white T-shirts, black motorcycle jackets and saddle shoes and let Gorman take them back to that "remember when" time.

The Sock Hop will be held at the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware at 30486 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Lewes. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, contact Gwen at sailor4428@gmail.com or 302-396-7107. Proceeds will support the mission of the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware to nurture spiritual growth, embrace diversity, work for justice and strive for a loving world.
