Annual event celebrates Sussex County agriculture
October 20, 2017

Bridgeville hosted its 26th annual Apple-Scrapple Festival Oct. 13-14, delighting visitors with contests, live music and the annual mayoral scrapple sling.

The two-day event began as a way to promote the agriculture industry in Sussex County, taking advantage of one of Delaware's last commercial apple-growers, T.S. Smith and Sons farm in Bridgeville. Scrapple also has deep roots in the First State, with Rapa Scrapple dating back to 1926.

The festival website said the annual event has grown from 2,500 visitors in 1992 to more than 25,000 apple- and scrapple-lovers spending the weekend in western Sussex. For more about the festival, go to www.applescrapple.com.
