Vietnam veteran praises Home Depot

February 16, 2018

Although all are aware of our military veterans, it is not often that a concrete act of appreciation is seen other than the occasional parade or school program.

I write to thank the manager of the Home Depot store in Salisbury, Md., Mrs. Tammy Burrier and her staff for what they did for me, a Vietnam veteran. My local VVA Chapter 1105 put out an offer by Tammy to do repairs on a veteran’s house.

Since I am not able to keep up with outside repairs by myself, I agreed to have my name submitted. Never did it even cross my mind I may become one of the recipients as I have managed pretty well since coming home, and even since my veteran husband was killed.

Tammy and her gang came out to assess what might be done. After two more visits and the work of herself and nine staffers, unpaid for their time and labor, I have a much-needed replacement fence, new toolshed, three storm windows where there were none, weatherstripping, a brace up for my side porch and grab bars in my bath.

She and her people were like family working around the house. Fun, cheerful people who got right down to business. I was so touched, tears flowed from my eyes. Never before had this sort of thing happened to me.

People should know that there are businesses and business people like Tammy and her crew who truly care, and who go that extra mile.
