March 29, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s three-part Journeys in Art History film series introduces the works of history's greatest painters and provides opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide.

The series concludes with the vivid Exhibition on Screen film, “Vincent Van Gogh: A New Way of Seeing,” at 2 p.m., Monday, April 10, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

The film explores the dramatic story and iconic work of one of the world's most beloved artists, Vincent Van Gogh. With exclusive original research revealing incredible new discoveries, the Van Gogh Museum has helped craft a cinema experience like no other, and a fresh and gripping biography. Audiences will enjoy complete and unprecedented access to the treasures of the museum, which includes a major re-showing of the gallery's collection and a celebration of the recent 125th anniversary of Van Gogh's death. This screening is being sponsored by Peninsula Gallery in Lewes, which specializes in original art by some of the area's finest local artists.

A post-film discussion will be moderated by Ellen Notar, who received her master of science degree and PhD at University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her master of arts at University of Michigan. She has taught art history and semiotics for over 25 years at the university level. She is a painter and printmaker, and has shown in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Santa Fe, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Her art is in collections around the United States, Europe and Mexico.

Admission is $6 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.rehobothfilm.com or call 302-645-9095.
