Vincent "Vinnie" Esposito Sr., retired postmaster

Vincent "Vinnie" Esposito Sr., 80, of Ocean View, formerly of Bloomfield, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at his home.

He was born in Harleigh, Pa., May 18, 1937, the ninth child of the late Sabatino Esposito and Josephine (Signorella) Esposito. He began his career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, and eventually retired as the postmaster of the Netcong, N.J. post office in 1992 after 30 years of service.

Mr. Esposito served on council of the Township of Bloomfield, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed hunting. Vinnie was also known as the CEO of the Bethany Beach Boardwalk and was very active with the 9:59 Club which was a group of people that gathered on the boardwalk, Monday through Saturday to talk, socialize and solve the world's problems.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his seven siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maureen (Duhig) Esposito; three children, Darlene Esposito of Millsboro, Vincent Esposito Jr. and his wife Arlene of East Hanover, N.J., and Christopher Esposito and his wife Veronica of Hoboken, N.J. Vinnie is also survived by five grandchildren, Vincent E. Knoepfel, Vincent Esposito III, Michelle Esposito, Nico Esposito and Paloma Esposito; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Izabella Knoepfel; and a sister, Marie Ridall of Berwick, Pa.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
