Virginia Durham inducted into Daughters of American Revolution

November 22, 2017

The Colonel David Hall Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed its newest member, Virginia Durham, Nov. 11. Her patriot ancestor was Nehemiah Bucklin, who served as a private in the Rehoboth Bristol Company of Massachusetts.

During the application process, Chapter Registrar Kristin Jones worked with Durham to help her collect all the necessary documentation to demonstrate direct lineal descent from her patriot. Once her application was verified by the National Society, she was inducted to membership by the chapter.

During the induction ceremony, Durham's credentials were presented by Membership Chair Nancy Barlow. Chaplain Vicki Dawes administered the oath of membership, and Regent Denise Clemons presented Durham with a DAR pin.

The Lewes-based Colonel David Hall Chapter currently has 158 members. For more information for those who think they may have a revolutionary patriot in their family trees, contact Denise Clemons at 302-645-2089.
