Vote Ledogar: Sussex not a ‘business’

October 27, 2016

At the Candidate’s Forum held at the Lewes library Oct. 25, I.G. Burton stated numerous times that Sussex County County is a business.

I request that Mr. Burton review the mission statements posted on the Sussex County Council website. These mission statements are commitments made to the people of Sussex County by their council. Business is just one aspect of the council. It is understandable that a businessman would be somewhat tunnel-visioned in this regard. Maybe as you served for 11 years on the planning commission, it was good for business to blindly approve the grandfathering-in of over 200 building applications, but it wasn’t wise for the smart planning necessary to enhance the quality of life of those of us who live in Sussex County. Within the comprehensive plan, you continually reminded us you were working under, there was ample discretion possble to con-scientiously guide your approval methods. We need a person of much broader vision on Sussex County Council. That person is Leslie Ledogar.
