Delaware Technical Community College's Jack F. Owens Campus will host The Wall That Heals exhibit Thursday, Sept. 1 though Sunday, Sept. 4, in the Carter Partnership Center lawn in Georgetown. The exhibit is free and open to the public, 24 hours a day. It will depart Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.

The Wall That Heals is a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and includes a mobile education center honoring the more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces during the Vietnam War. The wall bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

The exhibit's mobile education center, located on the exterior sides of the 53-foot commercial trailer that hauls The Wall That Heals, shares four primary aspects – a timeline/map of the Vietnam War, a display of photographs inscribed on The Wall, a small portion of items left behind at The Wall and an explanation of the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Together, the displays tell the story of the Vietnam War, The Wall and the era surrounding the conflict, and they are designed to put American experiences in Vietnam in a historical and cultural context.

An opening ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Owens Campus. A Touch of Brass band will perform, and remarks will be provided by Vice President and Campus Director Dr. Ileana Smith, keynote speaker Brigadier Gen. Terry L. Wiley and college President Mark Brainard. The Wall That Heals is a program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Founders of the Wall.
