Walter A. Hoff, Postal Service retiree

Walter A. Hoff, 79, of Milton, passed away at home Friday, March 17, 2017.

Walter was born in Bayonne, N.J., son of the late Walter G. and Margaret (Hendrickson) Hoff.

Walter retired from the U.S. Postal Service and had worked in maintenance. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union and was a welder. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and member of Endeavor Lodge 17 AF & AM.

Walter enjoyed woodworking, trap shooting, and always had a joke ready for you. He loved playing the organ, especially Celtic and folk music. Walter also enjoyed helping his neighbors and performing handy work when needed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Janet Hoff in 2014.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol Stanek and husband Patrick, of Phillipsburg, N.J.; two granddaughters, Shaelyn Stanek and Haley Stanek; and a brother, Edwin Hoff and wife Vickie of Milton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation after noon. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla 33607.
