National and regional watermelon queens, in partnership with the Mar-Del Watermelon Association and the Delaware Department of Agriculture, handed out free slices of watermelon on the Boardwalk Aug. 2. Watermelon Queens from Georgia, Illiana, North Carolina and Mar-Del, along with Emma Cannon, the National Watermelon Queen, greeted visitors with free watermelon, stickers and recipe cards.

Watermelon Queens have been spreading the love of watermelon and boosting sales across the nation for over 50 years. They enjoy educating and adding sparkle to promotions and special events on behalf of the watermelon industry. The Watermelon Queens are trained promotional ambassadors who represent watermelon on the regional, national and international levels.
