Willey Farms vegetable soup cook-off set Feb. 11, register by Feb. 8
In honor of National Homemade Soup Day Feb. 4, Willey Farms in Townsend is holding the third annual vegetable soup cook-off competition at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11. Any non-professional home cook is encouraged to enter. Registration is open Monday, Jan. 23 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8. A maximum of 10 contestants will be permitted.
When the number of entrants has reached 10, no more will be accepted even if the deadline to enter has not arrived. Soups will be judged on appearance, taste, texture, aroma and adherence to the theme of vegetable soup. Willey Farms gift cards will be presented to the top three finishers: first place, $100; second place, $50; and third place, $25.
Judges for the event will be WJBR radio personality Chris Duff; Rene Nolan, principal of Old State Elementary School; and Dr. George Schreppler from Schreppler Chiropratic.
