William D. ‘Slick’ Jones, retired machinist

William D. "Slick" Jones, 78, died peacefully Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Rehoboth Beach. He was also affectionately known as "Billy Boy" and by his wife "Blue."

Bill was born March 9, 1939, in Binghamton, N.Y. During his high school years he was an avid athlete in football and diving. After serving in the U.S Navy, he moved to Delaware County where he played semi-pro football for Tinicum A.C. He worked as a machinist at Lenape Forge before retiring to Rehoboth Beach where he enjoyed boating and fishing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; his three children: John Sperratore (Tracie), Lisa Gittman (Elwood) and William Jones Jr.; his four grandsons: Justin, Ryan, Connor and Billy III; his sister Patricia Latini; and his aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and his faithful cat Mitzi. He is preceded in death by his father William H. Jones, mother Antoinette Ferraro Jones and his sister Marie Jack.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
