William D. King, Bell Atlantic retiree

William D. King, 84, of Lewes, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family.

After 22 years at Paramount Poultry, "Bill" then went to work for Bell Atlantic where he later retired with 23 years of service. Even after retirement he continued working, doing lawn maintenance and filled his time helping others with odd jobs. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his garden, hunting and watching NASCAR.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Anna Mae King; his parents George W. King and Effie King; his brother Emory H. King; and his sister Alma Wharton.

He is survived by his six children: Carol Riggins and her husband Ray, William David King and his wife Eileen, Louise McDonald and her husband John, Allan King and his girlfriend Sandy, Donna Morris and her husband Wesley, and Brenda King; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; his sister Ruth Henry; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, Jan. 13, at noon, in Melson's Long Neck Chapel, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will be in Conley's Chapel Cemetery, Lewes.
