William D. McCabe, worked in agriculture

William D. McCabe, 81, of Omar, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born at home in Roxana Sept. 11, 1936, son of the late Merrill McCabe and Evelyn McCabe Lynch.

He attended Selbyville School and graduated in 1954. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-59. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and the remainder of his tour of duty was spent at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii.

Bill married the love of his life, Martha Evans, July 20, 1962, and celebrated almost 52 years of marriage before she passed away July 1, 2014.

Bill was employed in the agricultural industry and retired from Tyson Foods. He cherished lifelong friendships from his life and work. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also cherished his Roxana Zion United Methodist Church family of which he was a member.

He is survived by a son, William Kevin McCabe and his wife Melinda of Frankford; daughter, Kimberly Davidson and her husband Craig of Frankford; a son, Keith M. McCabe and his wife Ellen Lorraine of Millsboro; grandchildren, Will McCabe, Nate McCabe, Hillary Haines, Elizabeth Davidson and Kylie McCabe; and his siblings, Odetta Bennett and Gloria Windham.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Roxana Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bill's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or Roxana Zion United Methodist Church, 35914 Zion Church Road, Frankford, DE 19945.
