William Demas, services set Dec. 7

William Demas, 93, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, following a long battle with bladder cancer. He was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Louis P. Demas and Hresoula Kontos Demas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Curtis W. Demas; brothers Gus and Nick; and sisters Bessie (Kiki), Dee and Mary.

Mr. Demas worked as a television repairman for George's Radio and TV in Washington, D.C. for over 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. Mr. Demas proudly served in the Army Air Corps during War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 17, Lewes.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Virginia Catherine Demas; a son, Jeffery A. Demas; two daughters, Shirley A. Rye (Greg) and Catherine L. Louia (Jimmy); daughter-in-law Valerie Demas (Curtis); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three nephews, the very Rev. Dr Joachim Cotsonis, Louis Demas and John Demas.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., at Saint Andrew The Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
