William F. Plack Jr., decorated veteran

On April 16, 2018, William F. Plack Jr. of Milford went home to be with the Lord. He passed away at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Mr. Plack was born March 25, 1924, in Baltimore, Md., to the late William Sr. and Lydia Plack.

William graduated from Polytech High School in Baltimore. He worked as a Baltimore City Police Officer, an insurance adjuster for St. Paul Insurance, Justice of the Peace Magistrate, and deputy administrator for the Justice of the Peace Court for Governor Russell Peterson.

Mr. Plack honorably served our country in the Army, Army Air Corps, Navy, and as a Navy recruiter. He was decorated for his service with a World War II Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. William was a member of Gideons International and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He enjoyed square dancing, reading, traveling, and sharing the gospel.

Mr. Plack was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Mary Plack (nee Tollis); his sister, Ruth Malone; and his grandson, Matthew David Plack.

William is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Kathryn Plack. He is also survived by his children, William F. Plack III and his wife Cris of Ocean Pines, Md., Dauna L. Dean and her husband Zack of Vancouver, Wash., and Christian J. Plack and his wife Deb of Frederica; his grandchildren, David Plack and his wife Jackie of Tallahassee, Fla., Joshua Redden and his wife Teresa of Newport News, Va., Lauren Tomberlin and her husband Carl of Tallahassee, Anna Cohee and her husband Brian of Felton, Andrea Plack of Frederica, Nicholas Crawford and his fiancee Katelyn Tuoni of Rehoboth Beach, Christian Plack Jr. and his wife Jess of Milford, Zach Dean of Portland, Ore., and Timothy Dean and his wife Brittany of Bellingham, Wash.; 14 great-grandchildren, Cara, Benjamin, Ethan, Tovah, Kaia, Asher, Aidan, Alex, Logan, Langley, Cameron, Carys, Dylan and Juniper; and two great-great-grandchildren, Selah and Aria.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford. A second viewing will take place at 10 a.m., with a celebration of life service at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 21, at Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 NW Salevan Place, Milford. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
