Wilmington man arrested for third DUI

August 28, 2017

Rehoboth Beach police have arrested a Wilmington man for felony third-offense DUI after the driver allegedly drove over a curb and sidewalk at Rehoboth Avenue and First Street.

Police say an officer was sitting at a stop sign along Wilmington Avenue around 11 p.m. Aug. 26. Police say James Leone, 51, driving a silver Jeep Wrangler, illegally passed the officer on the right. The officer followed Leone’s Jeep and saw him drive over the curb and sidewalk.

Police say the officer stopped Leone and upon approaching his car, saw signs that he was intoxicated. A field sobriety test was given and Leone was taken into custody and taken to Beebe Healthcare for further analysis, police said.

Leone was charged with felony third offense DUI, passing on the right and driving a motor vehicle on a sidewalk. He was released on $5,250 unsecured bail to a sober co-signer.
