Winter weather advisory issued Dec.15

1 to 3 inches of snow expected between 1 and 9 p.m.
December 15, 2017

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15. One to three inches of snow is projected.

The Department of Transportation is telling motorists to plan for slippery roadway conditions and reduced visibility during this evening’s commute.

DelDOT crews are pre-treating primary roads, bridges, overpasses and ramps with brine in Sussex County. DelDOT says, in Kent and New Castle counties, residual salt from operations earlier in the week is a sufficient pre-treatment ahead of this storm.

During plowing or salting operations, DelDOT recommends motorists not pass the plow, and drive a few car lengths from the back of the vehicle.

DelDOT reminds motorists that bridges, overpasses and ramps freeze sooner than approach roads. Slowing down before traveling over an elevated roadway and keeping steady momentum without braking can help control a vehicle.
