A Georgetown woman, 61, was struck by a vehicle Oct. 22 as she tried to move a wheelbarrow off Zoar Road.

The woman had stopped her vehicle on Zoar Road and Cedar Lane at 7:30 p.m. and got out to remove a wheelbarrow from the center of the road, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.

The woman was standing in the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Zoar Road. Witnesses described the vehicle as a white Ford construction van. The vehicle did not stop and continued westbound on Zoar Road, Jaffe said.

The woman was transported to Nanticoke Hospital where she was treated and released with nonlife-threatening injuries.
