Women Supporting Women conference and retreat set March 24-26

March 16, 2017

The Gee...You Will Project's Women Supporting Women Through Opportunity Conference and Retreat will be held Friday-Sunday, March 24-26, at Redden Lodge near Georgetown. This year's theme is Women, Above and Beyond: The Finest Frontier. This year's focus will be on women involved with the space program.

The Gee...You Will Project is a formalwear lending library which lends gowns to girls and women who might not otherwise attend a formal affair. In addition, the project works in the community providing mentoring and esteem-building programs. Any income not used for conference supplies and accommodations supports the projects in covering costs for cleaning, maintenance and events related to other programs offered. The donation for the weekend experience is $50 which includes food, lodging, workshops and activities. Payment plans and reduced fees are available. Contributors can also sponsor attendance for others, and partial scholarships and payment plans are available, as funding is extremely limited.

Bedding is not provided, but there is sleeping space for those who bring their own bedding and wish to spend Friday and Saturday nights at the lodge. There are hotels and bed and breakfasts within 15 minutes of the lodge.

Redden Lodge doors will open at 5 p.m., Friday, March 24. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a light dinner, appetizers and desserts, followed by opening ceremonies and an evening of activities designed to let attendees get to know one another. On Saturday, continental breakfast will be served. Workshops will start at 9 a.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m., with lunch served at noon. Workshops cover a wide variety of topics including mentoring, astrology, goal setting, instructional food art, couponing, boundary setting and The Power of Awe. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and an evening program, including a murder mystery dinner, will follow. Breakfast will be served Sunday prior to a nondenominational celebration ceremony. A time for relaxation will follow with crafting and other activities available to those interested. Participation in cleanup on Sunday will be much appreciated.
