Worcester Prep holds convocation ceremony

Worcester Prep alumnus and boys’ varsity lacrosse coach Garvey Heiderman spoke at the school’s academic convocation ceremony.

The Annual Worcester Preparatory School Academic Convocation ceremony was held May 23, when awards were given for academic achievement in all subject areas, perfect attendance and service to the school.

Featured guest speaker was WPS Class of 2005 alumnus Garvey Heiderman. After graduating from WPS, he attended the University of Pennsylvania and received a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. While at Penn, he played lacrosse all four years. After graduating from Penn, he worked in Washington, D.C. as assistant manager for Luke’s Lobster, and also worked for some former Microsoft developers to help them beta test a talent management software platform.

In 2014, he returned to Ocean City, Md., to manage his family’s restaurant, The Hobbit. Heiderman also returned to his alma mater to help coach the WPS boys’ varsity lacrosse team.
