Elementary Division

 

The Golds and the Grays battled to a 0-0 tie in Wednesday’s division game, while the Greens put on an offensive show with a 14-3 win over the Maroons. Madeline Pepper (2) and Emily Wells had the goals for the Maroons. Kylee LaVere (5), Shelby Manlove (5), Baylie Williamson 92), and Abby Marsh did the scoring for the Greens.

The teams take a week of to celebrate the Fourth of July and to watch the competition at the Mid-Summer Tourney next Wednesday at Cape Henlopen HS. The first games of the tourney begin at 5:20 pm.

Pool play finished up during the week of July 11 with the Grays vs the Blues and the Greens vs the Reds at 5:30.

Senior Division

 

The Bengals defeated the Corals by a final of 4-1 in a well-played match. Haley Craig scored at 5:32 to give the Corals a short lived, first half lead but Anna Stancofski answered with her goal at 2:34 to pull into a brief tie before Samie Jacona (assist by Lexi Gooch) gave the lead to the Bengals. Gooch then got an unassisted goal at 14:10 to ice the game. Lori Sapp finished off the scoring with her goals on an assist from Noelle Sabbagh with :20 remaining.

In the second game of the evening, the Baffins defeated the Seahawks by a final of 3-1. Madi Irwin gave the Seahawks the first half lead with her goal at 14:28 of the opening half off a pass from Anna Harrington. The Baffins took over in the second half when Maci Long evened the score with her unassisted goal at 14:25. Then Carey Karl got the game winner at 9:10. Karl finished the night with her second goal on a pass from Reagan Ciabattoni at 3:48.

The Pumas continued to dominate the league with a 5-1 win over the Artics. Madi Cook had a pair of goals in the first half for the Pumas (one assisted by Jenna Steele) and Kaleigh Cordrey had the goal for the Artics. The second half was all the Pumas with Maddie Wilber (assist by Cook), Rylee Pettyjohn (assist by Lola Messick), and Julianna Tyndall (assist by Malori Hughes) doing the scoring.

The league will continue games on Monday, July 11 with the Bengals vs the Artics, Corals vs Seahawks, and Pumas vs Baffins. All the games are on the turf at Cape Henlpoen HS with the first game beginning at 6:00 pm.
